Richard is a sensitive, but only as it relates to non-living beings such as ghosts, vampires, etc. What this means is, he is reading life energy, and if yours reads as dead, he will know you are not 'human'. Generally, his senses only go this far, and he is limited to beings that are considered dead or living dead, but cannot sense anything like a demon, god or fae's energy.

This also means that anything that does not have a soul may technically be readable to him, but always feel free to discuss things with me if you are unsure if you fit into something he would read. Also, as his senses are on the light end of the scale, if you would prefer your character to remain unread (say they are good at hiding that signature), feel free to fill out the permissions as a no.

If you are alright, or not, with Richard sensing these things, please fill out the two questions below for me:

Can Richard sense you aren't alive?: (Realize that if he does, he may draw his gun on you or otherwise take up an offensive stance. If you are uncomfortable with this, let me know and we'll discuss how they can meet without this occurring)

If your character happens to be an actual ghost, are you okay with Richard knowing this, and once more possibly drawing his gun on you?: (Same as above if you are uncomfortable with this idea)

Richard's world is a post-apocalyptic one. There are no dates to say when things happened, but what the people refer to as "The Collapse" occurred. A good chunk of the human population was completely destroyed almost overnight, and those who remained were scattered and confronted with a new threat, beings called Phantoms. These Phantoms, beings made of some form of spirit energy, drain human's of their life force, leaving them merely a dried up shell.

It was due to these Phantoms that the remnants of man began to amass into groups, using those who they found to have some power to defeat the Phantoms to keep themselves safe, and in their struggle for survival, forgetting what caused The Collapse to occur.

The construct of the world is fairly simple. A good portion of the buildings are dilapidated, and falling apart, with only small sections of any city being kept in shape. The cities are still often called by what they would be in the present-day, though some have taken on entirely different names. Technology is limited, with most of the focus being put on weaponry (guns of all sorts still function and are constructed and repaired, though swords and other bladed weapons are common as well), and on travel (cars and trains are the two most common methods of travel; airplanes and other air methods do not exist).

Phones, and other methods of mass communication, do not exist, though radios and other local to mid-area devices are still used. This also means there is no internet, or printing houses to speak of, and thus news is usually sent via letter, or by word of mouth.

80-90% of the population is orphans, and very few have a last name to call their own. In fact, most are called Orphan, with a very few gaining other names by adoption. These names usually relate to the job of which their new parent has, or the location in which they are (such as Church for a child who is taken in by the church, or Blacksmith by a blacksmith), though it is also not uncommon to find someone with absolutely no last name to call their own.
